The Retreat comprises images of an evening in a live music venue in Tunbridge Wells, Kent called The Retreat.

The central head is based on a life cast of a young musician who agreed to model. The head is covered with an armour type overlay of relief images   that include suggestions of guitars, spectators and a bottle of wine; the stylised guitar on the left shoulder echoes the tattoos that cover the original model’s upper torso.
