Drawing is a fundamental part of Louise Giblin’s art work; she produces observation sketches that are worked on almost daily. Some are the product of several sittings and act as visual memoirs and/or design studies.
Often images produced direct the form of final sculptures. The sketches of Stacey Waite and Carla Necci, subjects of Perfect Fit and Precision Cut respectively, are combined in the sketch below. It is possible to see Stacey stretch diagonally across the paper during a Body Balance workout and Carla is drawn standing, cutting hair. These latter sketches provided the images that were cut into Carla’s hair on her portrait.
