Constructivist Spring

Constructivist Spring centres on a young woman’s head. It is decorated with abstract and figurative imagery in some part derivative of the Russian Constructivist artists of the early twentieth century.

Louise Giblin was inspired by both the young woman and sketches that the artist drew while visiting the Tate Modern’s Constructivist exhibition. The juxtaposition of geometric form with her head is reminiscent of the robotic Maria in Fritz Lang’s Metropolis.
