Alpha Male Series
Motor Head bronze

The first in the Alpha Male Series - ‘Motor Head,’ 2009, is also the second of Giblin’s three-dimensional portraits of her husband. Following the production of ‘Petrol Heads’ in 2008, that focused on his bond with his father who died in 2001, Giblin found it interesting that her husband found the piece ‘too sympathetic;’ his personal identity required something ‘stronger.’

In ‘Motor Head,’ Giblin united Peter Giblin’s portrait with his obsession for his second bike, a Honda Shadow VT750C producing a robotic image ironically echoing the Futurist machine aesthetic and Epstein’s sinister ‘Rock Drill’ of almost a century before.
